Meet Our Attorneys

Mary G. Kirkpatrick

Firm co-founding partner Mary Kirkpatrick has broad experience covering personal injury and product liability, medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, immigration, and family law. Her skills have proven valuable to a wide range of clients, for whom she has provided effective dispute resolution, trial representation, and appellate argument before the Vermont Supreme Court.

With more than 30 years experience, Ms. Kirkpatrick has conducted more than 50 trials to resolution and has handled many successful appeals. Her capital punishment defense advocacy work was recognized in 1998, when she received the prestigious Thurgood Marshall Award from the New York City Bar Association. She has been a long-time board member of the Vermont Association of Justice, and is a former Co-Chair of the Vermont Bar Association Tort Liability Committee.

Richard R. Goldsborough

With more than 25 years of litigation experience, co-founding partner Richard Goldsborough has an impressive trial and appellate record in personal injury, criminal defense, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and family law. He is known to be a formidable insurance opponent, protecting the interests of clients in liability, bad faith, uninsured motorist, and other cases. He has secured several million dollar recoveries for injured clients, including a $1.63 million uninsured motorist arbitration verdict, and has had several high-profile product liability successes against General Motors.

Mr. Goldsborough has appeared before the Vermont Supreme Court and Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and and served two three year terms on Vermont’s Judicial Conduct Board after appointment by the Supreme Court and served as the vice chairman from 2009-2015. Mr Goldsborough receives ad hoc appointments for the Vermont Professional Responsibility Program to investigate ethical misconduct complaints against lawyers.

Jennifer Everts Agnew

Associate Jennifer Everts Agnew practices civil litigation and family law at our firm. A native of Vermont, she is admitted to practice in state and federal court here as well as in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In almost a decade of practice, Ms. Agnew has capably handled complex civil litigation cases, including business torts, class actions, and antitrust suits.

Ms. Agnew is a 2007 graduate of the highly rated Rutgers School of Law. She formerly served as an appellate law clerk to the Hon. Jack M. Sabatino in New Jersey, where she handled civil, criminal, and family law appeals.

Stephen L. Miller

Stephen Miller's practice is concentrated on trust and estate law and guardianship law. He has significant expertise in elder law and in estate planning and administration, representing high-net-worth clients as well as individuals of more moderate means. Mr. Miller drafts Wills, Revocable Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, Insurance Trusts, Power of Attorney Designations, Healthcare Directives, and other documents related to estate planning.

Meticulous and thorough, Mr. Miller's goal is to communicate his clients' wishes to avoid future uncertainty and conflict. With a master’s degree in psychology counseling, he enjoys working on children’s guardianship cases for client families as well as for the Chittenden Probate Court.
