It is our policy to inform our clients in advance of the fees to and to provide as much information as possible prior to engagement.
Generally, the firm charges by the hour, with each hour being broken into ten (six minute) intervals. Each lawyer and paralegal has a standard rate, which may vary depending on experience and the type and complexity of service being provided. Bills are rendered monthly. Payment is expected within the 30-day interval. In most cases, we require a retainer prior to commencement of work. The amount and terms of the retainer may vary, depending on the type and complexity of the service.
Certain types of cases warrant a contingency fee, such as a personal injury litigation. Contingency fees are charged as a percentage of the amount recovered by the client. If the firm fails to obtain any recovery, no fee is owed for the legal time. Clients are responsible for expenses regardless of the outcome. Expenses for various items are charged separately and include expert witness fees, depositions, telephone, photocopies, facsimiles and other like expenses.
Kirkpatrick & Goldsborough will provide a copy of its standard fee agreement to any potential client who requests.
